There are lots of driving instructors that will try to teach you to pass your test, but with Alec you will learn to drive. Within a month of passing my test I have driven over 3000 miles all across southern England including central London, the dreaded M25 and all on my own and in anything from a Focus, pickup and longwheel base Ford Transit.
It's only thanks to Alec's superb teaching and instruction that I was so well prepared me for my test and more importantly able drive well and
confidently on my own straight after my test. So I thoroughly recommend Alec for all your driving needs!

My husband got Alec's contact from one of his satisfied pupils at work and soon booked my first lesson. We found Alec to be very friendly and astute professional driving instructor. My confidence increased after each lesson because he was very patient and took time to explain to me how to conduct all the manouvers. Although I had a lot of difficulty practicing the reverse left manouver, he never gave up on teaching me different techniques to enable me overcome my difficulty. From lesson one with Alec I felt confident and comfortable with him, and how he was instructing me. Everything that I learnt was built up in good speed with my skills and any knock down was soon recovered! Great car to learn in, easy to drive and control. Great prices and very honest with hours, never giving me less then my lesson duration time! Very flexiable with where you could pick up and drop me off! You have a great personality which makes driving with you very relaxed but not too relaxed so I still learnt right from wrong. All round I had a great time learning with Alec! Alec was a great teacher in teaching me to drive. He was patient and helped me through everything breaking parts down into little details to help me understand. He made me laugh and I will never forget his little comical scenes that he does. He was that great that he got me through my test 1st time and I got 8 minors which I was very pleased with as was my family! Alec is patient, wise with the ability to articulate in the most simplest way, how to drive to the standard needed to pass your test (whilst enjoying yourself at the same time!). My partner and I developed a great personal friendship with Alec, which doesn't directly help pass your test, but helps you feel more relaxed and in control of your driving!
I would recommend anyone to start driving with Alec (young, old, experienced or not)!!

Alec is a very friendly, patient instructor. He made the manoeuvres much more simple with his reference points. You get a full drive with him, he's not one of these instructors who piggy backs or keeps stopping to talk to you about what you're doing. My clutch was bad when I first started with Alec but he remedied this for me and instilled me with so much confidence I passed first time. I'd recommend him to anyone.

I hadn't driven for four years after failing my driving test under a previous instructor, and was nervous about getting back behind the wheel. However Alec quickly put me at ease with his affable nature and keen teaching ability. Each lesson focussed on the core driving skills, introducing more advanced manoeuvres as my standard improved. Alec accurately predicted when my confidence and competence would be sufficient to pass the test (6 minors), but also to be a safe driver past the test.

Having tried, and repeatedly failed, to pass my practical test as a teenager I was dreading getting back in a car. However, I was about to qualify as a doctor and needed a car for work. Luckily, a friend recommended Alec. Alec’s calm, no-nonsense approach meant that I quickly re-gained my confidence and passed (on my first attempt with Alec) with only 2 minors. The best illustration of Alec’s technique is the way he teaches you to parallel-park. While my previous instructor taught a rigid ’10-step’ method, Alec teaches a simple, flexible technique that suits all scenarios. Alec’s other techniques are similarly practical.I would not hesitate to recommend Alec to anyone, despite his sense of humour, and I am tremendously grateful that he finally got me through my test – for me, the practical test was more stressful than even my medical exams!

When I first started driving I was very nervous, however Alec immediately made me feel at ease, he helped me improve my confidence quickly, mainly by his friendly attitude and professionalism. He always made me feel comfortable and I always had very fun lessons, largely due to his great sense of humour.
His teaching methos is brilliant as he takes the time to explain each step and give tips where needed. I especially found the way he teached manoeuvres helpful as he adapts each one to the pupil giving steps and advice on how to improve each one.

I have taken lessons from three instructors before I met Alec. His professionalism has definitely put him on an entirely different level. He is very systematic and puts his attention to details. He had every move explained on laminated booklet, and then told step by step while learners were practicing. He made notes on progress at the end of every lesson to everyone he taught. I also think I will benefit from his maximal attention to safety and eco-driving.
